The Oconee Performing Arts Society is a nonprofit cultural arts organization founded in 2007 by the late Roman Terleckyj, formerly of the Washington National Opera and the Kennedy Center, and with the help of local residents to fill a cultural void in the Lake Oconee community. With the support of our members and sponsors, OPAS continues to enhance our mission to entertain, enrich and educate the Lake Oconee region by presenting high-quality performing arts performances and educational outreach programs to over 2500 rural school children a year, many of whom would not otherwise have access to the arts.
Additionally, OPAS offers events for all ages. Families can enjoy three Broadway-quality performances throughout the year and a summer community concert. Adults can partake in the annual Rhythm and Brews Festival or Soireé en Blanc & Noir.
As a nonprofit organization community support is vital. Members and sponsors cover 60% of the cost of OPAS’ performances.
For more information on OPAS and how you can get involved, or purchase tickets to upcoming events make sure to check out their website or give them a call.
